Christy Tanner, EVP and GM of CBS News Digital, will appear in a keynote interview at TVNewsCheck’s NewsTECHForum 2018, where she will discuss the network’s ambitious multiplatform strategy with a focus on its pioneering moves on OTT.

Tanner oversees CBS News on all digital platforms, including CBSN, CBSNews.com, mobile apps and OTT apps. She will be interviewed by TVNewsCheck Special Projects Editor Michael Depp at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the New York Hilton.

“CBS was early to recognize the migration of audiences to OTT, and it was decisive in staking out a presence there to capture younger audiences,” Depp said. “Christy is leading remarkable year-over-year growth at CBSN and CBSNews.com and is showing the entire industry by example how important it is to have a robust OTT strategy.”

Tanner has spearheaded the growth of the CBSN Originals documentary series during her tenure and continually expended distribution to make CBSN available on every major platform.

Prior to her current role, Tanner was the SVP and GM of CBS Interactive Media. She joined CBS Interactive through the company’s acquisition of TV Guide Digital, where she served as CEO. She has also held executive positions with The Washington Post Company, Wolters Kluwer and Reed Elsevier. She is also a board member and special adviser to the executive committee of Digital Content Next.

NewsTECHForum, now in its sixth year, will also feature sessions on OTT and the News: Technology, Content and Monetization; Optimizing Production in the Field; Technology and the Next Generation of News Storytelling; Live news Production Over IP; Attracting Younger Audiences with Technology; and Top Technologists on AI, AR, IP, News Personalization and Future Workflows.

Set for Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 10-11, NewsTECHForum is co-located with the Sports Video Group Summit, where nearly 2,000 sports production and management executives gather to pursue excellence in sports production. NewsTECHForum attendees will have access to the SVG Summit’s program and its Technology Showcase of more than 60 exhibiting manufacturers.
